The 2023-24 season is shaping up to be an exciting one for both the men’s and women’s basketball squads at CSUDH. Despite some struggles in their early pre-season schedule, Toro coaches and players are looking forward to a successful year both on and off the court. Of course, the big story in Toro hoops last season was the CSUDH women’s team reaching the NCAA Elite Eight. Toro Softball Wins CCAA Tournament, Advances to NCAA West Regional
The CSUDH women's softball team advanced to the NCAA Division II West Regional Championship for the second consecutive year, defeating Chico State 4-1 in a dramatic, extra-innings final of the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) tournament. It was the Toros' first time winning the conference tournament and earned the team an automatic berth in the regionals. Junior infielder Nayah Pola slammed a 3-run home run in the bottom of the tenth inning to secure the victory for the Toros. Toro Women Advance to Elite Eight
The top-seeded CSUDH women's basketball team stormed their way into the NCAA Elite Eight with a dominant 73-51 win over Cal State San Marcos in the final of the West Regional Championship. The Toros won behind a stifling defense effort, holding San Marcos to just six points in a pivotal second quarter. It is the Toros' first-ever trip to the Elite Eight, where they will start play as the third seeded team. They will play sixth-seeded Catawba College of North Carolina on Monday, March 20, at 10 AM PST. The winner will advance to the Final Four on Wednesday. Toro Community Celebrates Homecoming 2023
Hundreds of CSUDH alumni from throughout the state descended on the campus during Homecoming 2023, enjoying a week-long slate of activities and opportunities to connect with old friends. The event kicked off with an opening ceremony in front of the Leo F. Cain. University Library, and culminated on Saturday, Feb. 18, with an outdoor brunch, games and activities on the North Lawn, and a pair of basketball games at the Torodome.
