Castro, who became California State University (CSU) chancellor in January of this year, is embarking on a virtual tour of the 23-campus system – and CSUDH had the honor of being his first stop on Feb. 19. ‘A Surge of Power,’ A Black Lives Matter-Devised Theatre Production, March 11-16
(Carson, Ca.) California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) will host a livestream production of “A Surge of Power,” an original student-written theatre production that gives voice to the rising plea for social equity. The show will run March 11, 12, 13, and 16 at 7 p.m. “A Surge of Power” is one result of the pledge the Department of Theatre and Dance made last summer in support of the Black Lives Matter movement to tell stories that denounce racism and bigotry, and foster empathy for all people. CSUDH Forensics Team Wins Honors in UTEP Classic
Despite being one of the smallest teams competing, the CSUDH Forensics Team produced some impressive results during the recent 2021 UTEP Classic Forensics Tournament. Under the direction of head coach Shaunte Caraballo, four of the team's five members have now qualified for the National Forensics League's National Individual Events Tournament in April. The team has competed in four events this academic year, with team members winning honors at three of them. New COVID-19 Testing Protocols Take Effect
With COVID-19 cases surging throughout Los Angeles County, CSUDH has enacted a new testing program for students, faculty, and staff who will be on campus during the spring 2021 semester. Surveillance testing kicked off during the second week of January, with testing continuing every Wednesday throughout the semester. “We have implemented repeat testing this semester in order to provide a level of assurance to those working and learning on campus that they can be on campus safely,” says Nora Garcia, CSUDH Emergency Preparedness Manager.
