Sophomore Gabreelynn Daniels is following in her family's footsteps: her mother Rosalind Carter (Class of '79, B.A., human services); father Thomas Daniels (Class of '79, B.A., kinesiology); and sister Krystal Parks (Class of '04, B.A., communications) all graduated from California State University, Dominguez Hills. However, the communications major is blazing her own trail in the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP), mentoring her fellow students. President Mildred García represented California State University, Dominguez Hills during the CSU's Super Sunday event on Feb. 20 by addressing the congregation of Family of Faith Christian Center, a local church that meets in the Loker Student Union. This Sunday, Feb. 20, California State University, Dominguez Hills president Mildred García will address the congregation of the Family of Faith Christian Center, led by Pastor Sherman Gordon, as part of the CSU's statewide Super Sunday events at more than 100 African American churches throughout the state in February. García will speak at both of the church's services that day, which begin at 7:30 and 10 a.m. and take place in a familiar location to García -- the Loker Student Union ballroom on the university's campus. Human Geography: Earth Science Club Participates in L.A. Homeless Census
While students majoring in geography and geology usually study physical properties of the earth, those in the Department of Earth Sciences at California State University, Dominguez Hills are examining the impact of human needs and man-made effects upon the planet. Last month, members of the Earth Science Club participated in the biannual homeless count sponsored by the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA).
