Theatre and Dance Live Streams Student Spring Dance Concert ‘Untamed Visions’

April 2, 2021

(Carson, Ca.) The Department of Theatre and Dance at CSUDH will host a live stream of the student spring dance concert “Untamed Visions.” The show will run April 15, 16, 17 at 7 p.m., and April 16 at noon.

“Untamed Visions” was created by eight student choreographers: Lorena Aguilar Rojas, Josh Alvarez, Nick Castillo, Lillie Galloway, Hannah Mercado, Sarah Omori, Rufina Perez-Gutierrez and Dani Rico, with support from Theatre and Dance faculty and staff.

For tickets visit https://www.csudh.edu/theatre-arts/buy-tickets/. For more information call (310) 243-3588, or visit: www.csudh.edu/theatre-arts/.

The concert will showcase and reflect the choreographers’ personal endeavors, innovation, passion and strength when the world around them has changed. Viewers will experience choreography at the cutting edge of academic dance study in a virtual setting.

“Untamed Visions” presents a variety of dance styles such as contemporary, musical theatre jazz, samba, salsa, Folklorico, African, and Japanese inspired styles. It takes viewers through an exploration of concepts and themes ranging from topics concerning self-discovery and identity, environmentalism, turmoil, justice and Latinx dance forms.

The choreographers, led by Artistic Director Doris Ressl, will share with their audience how the pandemic has not silenced the artistic impulse of our diverse community at CSUDH, but has left us still open, creative, and untamed.
