With more than $15.8 million in grants for research and creative projects awarded between July 2019 and June 2020, California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) continues to bring in impressive grant totals, despite the radical disruption to last year's academic calendar caused by COVID-19. LEAD Retreat Connects Student Leaders Statewide
Every year, the Office of Student Life (OSL) hosts the LEAD Retreat, a three-day/two-night off-campus retreat that brings together CSUDH student club and organization leaders to develop a support network, explore leadership tenets, and build partnerships. Knowing this year's event would be in a virtual format, OSL decided to do things a little differently - not only adapting the experience to Zoom, but creating an all-new finale activity that allowed students to connect with others across California. Philip Vieira Receives NSF Grant to Advance Skills in STEM Education Research
Philip Vieira, associate professor of psychology at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH), has received a National Science Foundation (NSF) grant totaling more than $228,000. Created for early- and mid-career researchers, the funding will enable Vieira to conduct rigorous fundamental research in STEM education by examining retention among students in STEM majors through a First-Year Seminar course. The Arbor Day Foundation has given California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) a 2019 Tree Campus USA recognition for its commitment to effective urban forest management. The Tree Campus USA program honors colleges and universities for excellent campus forest management and for engaging staff and students in conservation goals.
