Studio Art Program Partners with L.A. County to Encourage Student Voting
Anthony Kordahi's father emigrated from Lebanon to the United States in the 1980s to escape civil war and live in a country where he could have a voice, and vote what was in his heart. So, when Kordahi was asked to paint someone who inspires him to vote, his father was high on the list. Department of Theatre and Dance Announces Tony Award-Winning Play ‘Seven Guitars’
(Carson, CA) - In celebration of Black History Month, California State University, Dominguez Hills' (CSUDH) Department of Theatre and Dance has announced the theatrical production of American playwright August Wilson's Pulitzer Prize- and Tony Award-winning drama “Seven Guitars.” Performances will take place Feb. 21, 22, 28 and 29 at 8 p.m., and Feb. 23 and March 1 at 2 p.m. in CSUDH's University Theatre. The music of Teodross Avery, jazz saxophonist and assistant professor of jazz studies and contemporary music at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH), has been included among many of the genre's most celebrated musicians in jazz critic Scott Yanow's compilation of “The Top Jazz Recordings of 2019.” Yanow, who grew up in Los Angeles, is considered one of the music industry's most respected writers. Irene Garcia-Brizuela considers herself “pretty much an American citizen…just not on paper.” The California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) advertising and public relations major has lived in the United States since she was 10 days old, when her mother, a Mexican citizen, brought her across the border to stay with her grandmother in Lynwood. After graduating from Lynwood High School, she attained an A.A. degree in journalism from Long Beach City College before moving on to CSUDH.
