Six CSUDH Alumni to Address Graduates During 2019 Commencement Ceremonies

From stars in business and sports, to actually reaching for the stars, on May 17 and 18 five California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) alumni will grace the 2019 Commencement stage as keynote speakers, welcoming the Class of 2019 to the alumni ranks and offering words of encouragement and inspiration as graduates now go out to master their future. This year, commencement will return to the Tennis Center at Dignity Health Sports Park—formerly the StubHub Center—after the past two years at the Soccer Stadium. O&P Society Raises Funds for Physically Challenged Boy to Compete in Triathlon

The Orthotics and Prosthetics (O&P) Society student organization at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) made it possible for 12-year-old Zion Redington, who has ectrodactyly and was born with one finger on each hand and one toe on each foot, to compete in 25th Annual Aspen Medical Products San Diego Triathlon Challenge Oct. 19-21 in La Jolla, Calif. The O&P Society raised $2,000 for Zion and his mother, Heather Redington-Whitlock, to fly from their home in Franklin, Tenn., to La Jolla, and to register Zion in the triathlon. Alumna Tatiana Bush Lands Coveted United Nations Internship

Tatiana Bush has yet to begin her career in the health care industry, but the unique experiences she has gained since graduating from California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) have helped her land a coveted internship with the United Nations (UN) in New York City. Bush, who earned her bachelor’s degree in health care administration in 2016, is now in the Master of Public Health graduate program at New York University (NYU). O&P Students Offer First Dance and Swim to those with Disabilities

With help from students in California State University, Dominguez Hills' (CSUDH) Orthotics and Prosthetics Department, O&P patients learned to better manage their functional limitations in a fun and active way during First Dance and First Swim adaptive clinics on March 16–17. The O&P Society, the O&P Department's student organization, held the clinics in partnership with the Orthotic and Prosthetic Activities Foundation (OPAF) to offer those with amputations, limb differences, and other physical disabilities the opportunity to learn or relearn to dance and swim with the help of skilled instructors and adaptive equipment. Four Marital and Family Therapy Students Awarded Highly Competitive Stipends

Four California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) Marital and Family Therapy (MFT) students have been awarded highly competitive California MFT stipends, which provide financial support for their continuing educational pursuits as well as one-year paid employment and training. Funded by California’s Mental Health Services Act and administered by the MFT Consortium of California and Greater Los Angeles, the program awards 118 stipends statewide, and only 70 in Los Angeles County.
