Cal State Dominguez Hills President Willie J. Hagan will retire at the end of the school year after a five-year stint at the helm of the Carson campus, the university announced Tuesday.
A search for his successor will begin in the next few months, officials said. Hagan, who formerly worked as interim president of Cal State Fullerton, will remain in his position through June 2018.
“It has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career to serve as president of this great institution,” said Hagan, 66. “We have set in motion initiatives that will have a long-lasting impact on the future of this university.”
The school is in the process of finalizing a master plan to overhaul facilities, including new retail and housing. Construction begins this week on an $82 million science and innovation building.
