After a record-setting season that found the team rolling to a 28-2 record, the CSUDH women's basketball team has earned a number one seed in the NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Championship for the first time in the program's history. As the top seed, the Toros will host the eight-team West Regional tournament on campus at the Torodome on March 10-13. The Toros' strong regular season was enough to convince the selection committee to give them a number one seed, despite a tough loss in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Tournament final. Toro Community Celebrates Homecoming 2023
Hundreds of CSUDH alumni from throughout the state descended on the campus during Homecoming 2023, enjoying a week-long slate of activities and opportunities to connect with old friends. The event kicked off with an opening ceremony in front of the Leo F. Cain. University Library, and culminated on Saturday, Feb. 18, with an outdoor brunch, games and activities on the North Lawn, and a pair of basketball games at the Torodome. At Monday's opening ceremony, several speakers got the event rolling by describing their pride at attending CSUDH and happiness at seeing the campus growing and thriving. Toro Baseball Aiming for Consistent Success
After a successful post-season run in 2022, CSUDH head baseball coach Tyler Wright has one main goal for the program entering the 2023 season. “Consistently being in the mix for a conference championship is the next step for us as a program.” “Our goal is to make this three years in a row in which we are a competitive, top team in the in the conference,” he continues. “We're looking to compete for a conference championship and a conference tournament each and every year going forward.” Competing in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA), one of the top Division II conferences in the nation, doesn't come easy. Sulaiman Bah Named West Region Player of the Year
After helping to lead the CSUDH men's soccer team to their best season in years, Toro sophomore midfielder Sulaiman Bah won the Division II Conference Commissioners Association West Region Player of the Year for the 2022 season. He became the first CSUDH player to win the award. Bah finished the season with 18 goals and 12 assists, establishing a new CSUDH single-season scoring record. Seven of his goals were match-winners, which ranked first among all players in NCAA Division II. CSUDH’s Men Basketball Shooting for the Top
