Enjoying the mild early June gloom temperature during California State University, Dominguez Hills' (CSUDH) 2018 commencement May 18 and 19, more than 39,000 loud and proud family and friends cheered on the Class of 2018–the largest in university history–as they made their way to the stage in the StubHub Center Soccer Stadium. Walking through the “Becoming Los Angeles” exhibit at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles where she works, Cambria Rodriguez came across a small box labeled “Dead Man's Island: Demolished in 1929,” which contained several artifacts. Intrigued, Rodriguez, a history major who graduates with her bachelor's degree this spring, began looking into the history of the tiny island at the entrance of San Pedro Harbor. President Willie J. Hagan inadvertently became an audience of one when he stepped out of the elevator on the second floor of the Loker Student Union into a well-choreographed flash mob on the way to his retirement party on May 9 at California State University, Dominguez Hills. Made up of dance students and volunteers, the flash mob continued to sing and dance around Hagan as they escorted him into the party, where he was greeted by hundreds of faculty and staff members there to wish him well and celebrate CSUDH's six years of growth and achievement under his leadership.
