(Carson, CA) California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) has received a $4.5 million GEAR UP program grant from the U.S. Department of Education (DOE) to increase the number of low-income students in the Compton Unified School District (CUSD) who are prepared to enter and succeed in college. The seven-year GEAR UP grant will enable CSUDH faculty and staff to work with CUSD and other entities to create academic development programs and activities for a cohort of advanced underserved students starting in the 7th grade and through their graduation at Dominguez High School. An episode of “Queen Sugar,” the groundbreaking television drama that airs on the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN), will be screened at CSU Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) on Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. followed by a discussion with the show's director Shaz Bennett and writer Mike Flynn. President Thomas A. Parham Delivers his First Convocation Address
California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) President Thomas A. Parham gave his first official address as the university's 11th president on Sept. 20 at the 2018 Fall Convocation. Parham began his speech by expressing how honored he was to be part of the Toro family and introducing himself to faculty, staff, and students.
