(Carson, CA) - The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) has awarded California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) Professor of Interdisciplinary Studies Patricia Kalayjian a three-year, $289,076 Scholarly Editions and Translations grant to co-create a digital edition of the complete letters of 19th Century American novelist Catharine Maria Sedgwick. Work on the digitization project will begin in January 2020. University Honored with LAEDC’s Prestigious Eddy Award
California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) was honored with a prestigious Eddy Award during the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation's (LAEDC) 24th Annual Eddy Awards gala dinner on Nov. 7. The award recognized CSUDH's excellence in academia and outstanding efforts to provide access to higher education in Los Angeles. More than 600 people attended the gala at the JW Marriott Los Angeles L.A. Live to honor the “Most Business-Friendly City” award recipients: the City of Lancaster and the City of La Mirada. CSUDH Hosts Beam Signing Ceremony for Innovation and Instruction Building
(Carson, CA) - California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) will host a beam signing ceremony on Nov. 14 at 11 a.m. for its new four-story, 107,600-square-foot Innovation and Instruction Building to mark a new phase in its construction, and celebrate its role in the transformation of the physical campus. The building is scheduled to be open in time for fall classes in 2021. During the ceremony, CSUDH President Thomas A. 2019 Economic Forecast Shows Slowing yet Stable Economy in the South Bay
After years of solid economic growth, the South Bay's local economy will experience some slowing in 2020, but will remain stable due in part to the federal government's high level of defense spending in the region. Such was one of the many economic projections presented in the 2019 South Bay Economic Forecast and Industry Outlook, which California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) released on Oct. 29 as part of the fifth annual South Bay Economic Forecast conference hosted on campus. College Futures Foundation Awards $410,000 to Support Young Males of Color Consortium
The College Futures Foundation has awarded a two-year $410,000 grant to support the California State University's (CSU) Young Males of Color (YMOC) Consortium in its efforts to improve degree completion for male students of color by identifying, validating, and scaling encouraging practices at five CSU campuses. The grant is funded from July 1, 2019, through June 30, 2021. California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) serves as the YMOC's fiscal agent, while working closely with consortium partners CSU Fullerton, Cal Poly Pomona, CSU Sacramento, and CSU Bakersfield.
