Students and others in need of help this tax season have a great resource right here on the CSUDH campus - the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, staffed by Toro students. The no-cost tax preparation service is an Internal Revenue Service (IRS) program open to any individuals whose 2019 income was less than $56,000. It is designed to provide assistance to low-income citizens, students, the elderly, disabled, and those with limited English proficiency. In 2019, VITA volunteers helped file over 300 returns, and that number is expected to increase this year. President Parham Shares the Benefits of Higher Learning During CSU Super Sunday
Doing his part to help increase college-going rates among African American students, California State University, Dominguez Hills President Thomas A. Parham participated in CSU Super Sunday, an annual outreach event held at predominately African American churches throughout the state. City of Los Angeles Honors President Parham for ‘Outstanding Achievement in Education’
For his “unwavering commitment to students' academic excellence,” California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) President Thomas A. Parham was honored on Feb. 5 with the City of Los Angeles's Hall of Fame award for “Outstanding Achievement in Education” in the City Council chambers at City Hall. Hosted by L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti and the Our Authors Study Club, the awards ceremony commemorated the contributions of Southern California African Americans in the areas of education, religion, the arts, culture, and the humanities, and kicked off the city's annual celebration of African American History Month. Ximena Cid is more than an accomplished physicist, she's also a self-described “vocal advocate for women and black, indigenous, and people of color” participating in physics, space, and other hard sciences. The California State University, Dominguez Hills physics professor is considered a trailblazer in the field, a status that was confirmed with her recent selection as a delegate to the International Conference on Women in Physics.
