Seventeen students embarked this summer term on an academic journey that no other Toro has yet made. They represent the inaugural student cohort of CSUDH's Occupational Therapy Doctoral (OTD) program–the first doctoral program offered in the university's more than 60-year history. Staff Spotlight: Gilbert Hernandez
As a CSUDH graduate himself, Gilbert Hernandez feels right at home in his role as Senior Alumni Relations Specialist. It allows him to get to know lots of his fellow alumni, while also giving back to the student community by helping connect them with Toro graduates as mentors and advisors. “I know what it's like being a student,” he says. “So many people gave me advice or support through my academic career, going above and beyond to ensure that I had the help I needed.” He's happy that a large part of his job consists of assisting in making those connections for the next generation of Toros. Urbanize LA: Affordable Student Housing Coming to Cal State University, Dominguez Hills
Source: Urbanize Los Angeles More student housing is coming to the California State University, Dominguez Hills campus in Carson, per a notice issued by the CSU Board of Trustees. The proposed Housing Phase 4 project, slated for a site located north of the existing residence hall near the intersection of International Avenue and Birchknoll Drive. The proposed $97-million project would provide space for up to 288 students in a mix of single, double, and triple residence rooms. Commencement 2023 Highlights Perseverance
More than 3,300 proud Toros walked the stage at Commencement 2023 in Dignity Sports Park Tennis Stadium, supported by the joyous cheers of family, friends, and fellow students. Six ceremonies held on May 19-20 honored the commitment and persistence displayed by the Class of 2023, which ended one journey with a flip of the tassel and now begins another.
