CSUDH held its 20th annual Student Research Conference (SRC) on March 4-6, with students descending on Loker Student Union to show off and discuss the topics they’ve been delving into. Undergraduate and graduate students in fields from every area of campus presented their original research, with topics ranging from cancer treatments to the effects of rent control in California. The three-day event for undergraduate and graduate scholars is held annually to promote excellence in research by recognizing outstanding students' accomplishments across the disciplines. Toro Basketball Squads Roll Into Conference Tournaments
The nationally-ranked CSUDH basketball teams closed out their regular seasons in style with matching wins against Cal State East Bay. Both teams now have their sights set on winning the CCAA tournament and building momentum heading into the NCAA Tournament. In Carson, the No. 5 women's squad wrapped up the season in dominant fashion, crushing Cal State East Bay 94-56. The team finished with a 29-1 overall record (21-1 in CCAA play). With the win, the Toros completed one of the best regular seasons in program history and won their second CCAA regular-season title in three years. CSUDH Receives New Research Designation
California State University, Dominguez Hills has received the new Carnegie designation Research Colleges and Universities (RCU), the American Council on Education and the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching announced. Los Angeles Free Press Collection Now Available at CSUDH’s Gerth Archives
The Art Kunkin Los Angeles Free Press Collection is now available for research at the Gerth Archives and Special Collections at CSUDH, after three years of work and valuable assistance from the National Historical Publications and Record Commission and the Haynes Foundation. The collection spans 1928 to 2020 and contains 551 boxes of business records and personal papers of Kunkin and the Free Press. Archives staff have generated a 380-page finding aid/collection guide. CSUDH Develops Course to Train DHR/Title IX Investigators
In December, CSUDH will roll out the first course in the history of the CSU system to train employees to become Discrimination, Harassment, and Retaliation (DHR)/Title IX investigators. The initial cohort will consist of CSUDH faculty, staff, and administrators, but future courses will be open to employees of all 23 CSU campuses. The genesis of the course occurred at the July 2024 meeting of the CSU Board of Trustees.
