Kenji Jones overcomes setback and loss to earn her master’s degree with honors
After more than 20 years of putting the needs of her family before her college aspirations, Kenji Jones has earned her Master of Science in Marital and Family Therapy with honors from California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH), despite the sorrow of losing four close family members just prior to beginning graduate school in 2012. Jones, who graduated summa cum laude, experienced her first educational setback after graduating from high school in 1993. Occupational Therapy faculty, student interns improve mobility for stroke survivors
After just four sessions working with Paul Penoliar, an occupational therapy specialist and clinical instructor at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH), stroke survivor Tiufono Taliulu was able to return to Victoria Golf Course's driving range to continue his rehabilitation while working on his golf swing. Taliulu is just one of approximately 200 members at the Joseph B. Jr. and Mary Anne O'Neal Stroke Center, located in the Carson Center, who Penoliar and his student interns provide services for through CSUDH's Department of Occupational Therapy. Sharpening their presentation skills while taking advantage of networking opportunities with peers and professors at prospective graduate schools, 23 California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) psychology students had the opportunity to present their in-depth research at the Western Psychological Association Conference's 95th Annual Convention. The event was hosted April 30-May 3 by the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
