Theatre and Dance to Host Webinar with ‘Real Women Have Curves’ Playwright Josefina López

(Carson, Ca.) California State University, Dominguez Hills’ (CSUDH) Theatre and Dance Department will host a Zoom webinar and interview with Josefina López, celebrated playwright of “Real Women Have Curves” on Oct. 13 at 7 p.m. to discuss the production of her classic comedic drama “Confessions of Women from East L.A.” The webinar will also focus on López career as the most highly produced Chicana playwright.

A prolific writer, López started her writing career at the age of 17 and has since had more than 100 of her plays produced throughout the country.

Best known for writing the play and co-writing the 2002 Sundance Award-winning film “Real Women Have Curves,” López has been working as a professional screenwriter in Hollywood for almost 30 years with countless development deals and screenplay assignments. She is well-recognized for helping Latinos make inroads in the television industry, and has worked with many established producers, including Norman Lear (“All in the Family”), and Michael McDonald (“American Crime”).
