This Sunday, Feb. 20, California State University, Dominguez Hills president Mildred García will address the congregation of the Family of Faith Christian Center, led by Pastor Sherman Gordon, as part of the CSU's statewide Super Sunday events at more than 100 African American churches throughout the state in February. García will speak at both of the church's services that day, which begin at 7:30 and 10 a.m. and take place in a familiar location to García -- the Loker Student Union ballroom on the university's campus. SEED Scholars Welcomed to CSU Dominguez Hills
The first cohort of awardees of the Scholarships for Education and Economic Development (SEED) have arrived for a six-month course of study at California State University, Dominguez Hills. The SEED Scholars, who are from Central America and the Dominican Republic, will examine vector-borne disease control in an exclusive program taught by university faculty and staff, as well as Los Angeles County health professionals. California State University, Dominguez Hills is pleased to announce that Alexandra Jordan is the university's new director of development. Her first day was February 7. Jordan comes to CSU Dominguez Hills with more than 20 years of experience in the nonprofit and higher education arenas. For the past three years she had been a development coordinator at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB), where she was responsible for implementing fund raising strategies for the College of Business Administration. Samantha Hernandez: Sociology Major Featured in U.S. Dept. of Education Promo for Latino Education
Samantha Hernandez didn't set out to be a role model when she made good grades in high school and got accepted to college. In fact, if anything, she was inspired by others to set those goals. However, the sociology major at California State University, Dominguez Hills has become just that as the featured student in a Spanish-language video produced by the U.S. Department of Education intended to promote college attendance among children of Latino families.
