Following a national search, Willie J. Hagan, president of California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH), has appointed Michael E. Spagna as provost and vice president for academic affairs effective July 1, 2017. Since 2008, Spagna has been dean of the Michael D. Eisner College of Education at California State University, Northridge (CSUN), where he is known as a strong collaborator with extensive experience and diverse perspectives. Active learning classrooms enhance collaborative learning and inspire new approaches to teaching
With the installation of three state-of-the-art active learning classrooms (ALC) this summer at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) many students will experience a more collaborative and empowering way of learning, while faculty develop more creative approaches to teaching. The new ALCs consist of two spacious classrooms in Welch Hall (WH 160 A; WH 160 B) that accommodate a total of 154 students, and a new Case Study Room in the University Library (LIB 5514). More than 100 nominations were submitted for the 2015 President's Student Leadership and Service Awards to honor both students for their service to the campus and community and their academic excellence, as well as staff and faculty who support them in those efforts. CSU Dominguez Hills Awarded $2.9 Millon Grant to Improve Academic Skills of Graduate Students
California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) has received a five-year $2.9 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education's (DOE) Title-V, Part B-PPOHA (Promoting Postbaccalaureate Opportunities for Hispanic Americans) program to launch the Graduate Writing Institute for Excellence (GWIE). The institute will advance the reading, writing and research skills of the university's graduate students through a comprehensive skills enhancement program, and seek to develop additional academic and professional partnerships that will help foster student success. With food, dance and a very social and unique round of bingo, 34 new international students were welcomed to California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) by the College of Extended and International Education (CEIE) during its International Student Welcome Reception on Sept. 23.
