Since 1992, California State University, Dominguez Hills' Center for Mediated Instruction and Distance Learning has been at the forefront of providing video courses to the university's distant learners. This semester it continued that trend by offering live streaming on YouTube of the nine courses it is offering this spring. Professor of Anthropology Jerry Moore Honored with Prestigious Book Award
The Society of American Archaeology (SAA) has named Jerry Moore, chair of Academic Senate and professor of anthropology at California State University, Dominguez Hills, the recipient of its 2014 Book Award for his book, “The Prehistory of Home” (University of California Press, Berkeley, 2012). Moore will be formally recognized with the presentation of a plaque during the SAA's Annual Business Meeting and Awards Ceremony to be held in Austin, Texas, on April 25. He will also receive a citation in The SAA Archaeological Record and acknowledgment on the awards page of the SAA website. California State University, Dominguez Hills was one of nine campuses that participated in CSU Health Professions Advocacy Day last Wednesday, Jan. 22, at the State Capitol in Sacramento. The focus of the visits was to educate California lawmakers about the CSU's varied academic programs related to the health industry and the important role campuses have in educating, training and providing a pathway to careers in those fields to individuals in their communities. Following a national search, Willie J. Hagan, president of California State University, Dominguez Hills, has appointed Ellen Junn as provost and vice president for academic affairs effective Jan. 21, 2014. Young Scholars Program Marks 20 Years of Educating High School Students
Thousands of high school students throughout California have been able to earn college credit prior to graduation–saving them money and reducing their time to a college degree– through the California State University, Dominguez Hills Young Scholars Program, which turns 20 in 2014.
