The CSUDH journalism program has earned a six-year accreditation by the Accrediting Council for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (ACEJMC), the primary educational association of journalism and mass communication educators, students, and media professionals. CSUDH Launches New Strategic Plan: Going Far Together
With a land acknowledgement to the Tongva Nation by students Vanessa Esparza and Susanna Negrete–from the Pascua Yaqui Nation–to start the event, the CSUDH Strategic Planning Steering Committee launched the university's new 2022 Strategic Plan on March 3. The Strategic Plan positions CSUDH as a socially just, equitable, and inclusive model urban university, and will serve as a blueprint for the university over the next eight years. CSUDH Professor of History Bianca Murillo has received a 2022 National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) fellowship through the Awards for Faculty program for her next book, Financing Africa's Future: A Socio-Economic History of Ghana, 1950-1980. The highly competitive NEH faculty awards support advanced humanities research by scholars at Historically Black Colleges, Hispanic-Serving Institutions, and Tribal Colleges and Universities. A total of 25 grants were awarded nationally. This is Murillo's second major project involving Ghana–her first book, Market Encounters: Consumer Cultures in Twentieth-Century Ghana was published in 2017. The College of Business Administration and Public Policy's new School of Public Service and Justice has named its first director - C. Augustus “Gus” Martin, professor of criminal justice administration. A nationally recognized expert on terrorism, homeland security, and criminal justice, Martin has been with the university since 2001. He has served CSUDH in a variety of roles, including associate vice president for faculty affairs and associate vice president for human resources management.
