For Laurie Inman, lecturer and chair of liberal studies, working in the university's College of Education is uniquely rewarding. “Here, putting students first isn't just a mission statement or vision that's written on the wall,” she says. “We all come here because we want to do the work, and the work is about our students.” “Building relationships and engaging with students is very important to me,” she says. “I tell them during our first class, 'I'm not going to stand up here and lecture you. Custodian Mario Villegas has been with CSUDH Facilities Services for almost seven years, contributing to keeping the campus looking great on a daily basis. As someone who says he “loves to learn something new every day,” Villegas is proud to work on campus and “be part of a community where people are encouraged to get an education.” In his position at CSUDH, Villegas is responsible for keeping his assigned area of the campus ship-shape.
