The vice chancellor for student affairs at UC Irvine will become the eighth permanent president of Cal State Dominguez Hills, the California State University Board of Trustees announced Wednesday. Thomas A. Parham will begin his new role in late June. With 37 alumni teaching hundreds of students in dozens of classrooms, California State University, Dominguez Hills' (CSUDH) 5th annual Professor for a Day on March 14 was its largest and most professionally diverse gathering of honorary professors to date. President Hagan Honored with California Legislature Resolution
Willie J. Hagan, who will retire as president of California State University, Dominguez Hills following the university's 2018 Commencement on May 18-19, was honored with an Assembly Resolution on March 8 by the California Legislature to “extend special public recognition and commendations to him for his professional and civic leadership.” The resolution pays tribute to Hagan's six years as CSUDH's 10th president and four decades of service in higher education. Donna Nicol: An Agent of Change for Africana Studies
Donna Nicol, associate professor and chair of Africana Studies, arrived at CSUDH in fall 2017. As a faculty member, she teaches Comparative Ethnic and Global Societies. As chair, Nicol is working with her colleagues and the university administration to strengthen the program's curriculum and bolster its presence on campus and in the region.
