Associate Professor of History Bianca Murillo's first book, “Market Encounters: Consumer Cultures in Twentieth Century Ghana” (Ohio University Press, 2017), provides an expansive perspective of global capitalism that examines how race, gender, and power are created through commercial networks, and offers a radical rethinking of how economies and markets function. Thomas Parham Appointed CSUDH President
The board of trustees of the 23-campus California State University System has chosen Thomas Parham as president of California State University, Dominguez Hills. Dr. Parham will take office in June as the eighth permanent president of the university. California State University, Dominguez Hills, located in Carson between Los Angeles and Long Beach, enrolls nearly 13,000 undergraduate students and more than 2,000 graduate students. When administrators invited Lynnette Zelezny, a budding psychology lecturer at Cal State Fresno, to apply for a tenure-track job, she was excited – but there was a catch. She didn't have her doctorate yet, and tenure-track jobs required one. She was also a mother of three, and at the time, she said, there were no doctoral psychology programs in the Central Valley.
