Department of Theatre and Dance Announces Tony Award-Winning Play ‘Seven Guitars’
(Carson, CA) - In celebration of Black History Month, California State University, Dominguez Hills' (CSUDH) Department of Theatre and Dance has announced the theatrical production of American playwright August Wilson's Pulitzer Prize- and Tony Award-winning drama “Seven Guitars.” Performances will take place Feb. 21, 22, 28 and 29 at 8 p.m., and Feb. 23 and March 1 at 2 p.m. in CSUDH's University Theatre. Teodross Avery Recognized for Top Jazz Song of 2019
The music of Teodross Avery, jazz saxophonist and assistant professor of jazz studies and contemporary music at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH), has been included among many of the genre's most celebrated musicians in jazz critic Scott Yanow's compilation of “The Top Jazz Recordings of 2019.” Yanow, who grew up in Los Angeles, is considered one of the music industry's most respected writers. His work includes 11 books, more than 850 liner notes, and close to 22,000 album reviews. CSUDH Receives Grant to Support Victims/Survivors of Sexual Assault and Violence
California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) has received a three-year, $298,719 grant from the U.S. Department of Justice's (DOJ's) Office of Violence Against Women to develop and launch the Grants to Reduce Sexual Assault, Domestic Violence, Dating Violence, and Stalking on Campus Program at CSUDH. Established by Congress in 2006, the grant supports community-based approaches to enhance victim safety, provides services for victims/survivors, and supports efforts to hold offenders accountable.
