California State University, Dominguez Hills presents the Women in STEM Conference on Wednesday, April 30, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Loker Student Union Ballroom. According to White House statistics, less than a quarter of those in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields are women. University to Lead NEH-Funded Archives Project to Digitize Japanese American Internment Documents
The California State University, Dominguez Hills Archives and Special Collections Department, in collaboration with archives divisions at CSU Fresno, San Jose State, CSU Northridge, CSU Fullerton and CSU Sacramento, has been awarded a $40,000 National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) grant to plan the digitization and creation of a website for collections relating to Japanese Americans' incarceration during World War II. “We are thrilled that NEH has recognized this project, especially since the topic is still of great interest to scholars and the Japanese American community in California and elsewhere,” said Greg Williams, principal investigator for the grant and director of Archives ... California State University, Dominguez Hills strives to be a good steward to the environment, and on the occasion of Earth Day, below are just a few of the green projects currently implemented on campus to improve our carbon footprint and be more sustainable. Recycling In 2013 alone, the campus recycled nearly 200,000 pounds of paper, plastic, glass, cardboard and cans, approximately 34,000 pounds more than 2012. In addition, the university's recycle program now recycles green waste, construction and demolition debris, concrete and dirt, electronic waste, ink and toner cartridges, scrap metal and wood pallets. The winding walkway between the University Theatre and the Student Health Center has always been a lush, calming spot on campus, a place where people stop to enjoy the shade and tranquility. Now the path offers one more reason to stop. If you didn't know any better, you might think that a group of elves had discovered the spot too and decided to call it home.
