The annual African American Leaders of Tomorrow (AALT) conference sponsored by the California Legislative Black Caucus was held this year on the campus of California State University, Dominguez Hills, which was ranked first among universities in the state in the number of bachelor's degrees conferred to black students, according to Diverse: Issues in Higher Education magazine. Kicking, screaming, bobbing, and splashing… Nothing quite says summer camp like making new friends, having lots of fun in a sparkling swimming pool, and learning new skills. But for many children from underserved Los Angeles area communities, this experience is hard to come by. Working to offer kids more opportunities is Sharefest, a nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening underrepresented communities by providing services for the children and families who live in those communities. CSU Dominguez Hills One of Nation’s Top Universities Granting Degrees to Minorities
California State University, Dominguez Hills is recognized as one of the nation's top 100 universities granting undergraduate and graduate degrees to minority students, according to Diverse: Issues in Higher Education. In the magazine's “Top 100 Undergraduate Degree Producers” published this month, CSU Dominguez Hills ranked 52nd nationally in total number of bachelor's degrees–and 85th in total number of master's degrees–awarded to minority students during 2011-12, the year of the most current data reported to the U.S. Department of Education. Five Alumni Forge Friendship at CSUDH, Blossom into Business Partners
If it is charming when two friends who are so close finish each other's sentences, then it's even more so with five friends–and maybe the perfect recipe for a successful business partnership. Alumni Adrian Arceo, Chris Avalos, Corey Cohen, Bryan Papp, and Jeff Saign were transfer students who met and bonded during their first year at California State University, Dominguez Hills.
