California State University (CSU), Dominguez Hills launched a new partnership with Zipcar, the world's leading car sharing network, to offer a Zipcar car sharing program on campus. The transportation option is now available 24 hours a day, seven days a week for students, faculty, and staff ages 18 and older, as well as members of the local community ages 21 and over. CSU Dominguez Hills will initially offer two vehicles, a Ford Focus and a Toyota Prius. The Zipcars will have designated parking spots located in Parking Lot 3 near the Tamcliff entrance to campus for convenient pick-up and return. “Inciteful Clay,” a national touring exhibit that offers an unparalleled overview of an emergent movement in contemporary ceramics dedicated to social commentary, opens at the California State University, Dominguez Hills University Art Gallery on September 10 and runs through October 7. Incorporating a broad range of work, this selection of 27 ceramics looks at artists who have mustered an age-old medium to issue provocative critiques of current social and political inequities. Watts 50 Years after Rebellion Explored in Exhibition Opening August 11
Through a collection of publications, correspondence, reports and books chronicling and analyzing the six days of destruction in the Watts community in 1965 set alongside an intimate portrait of Watts today, California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) has put together an archives and photography exhibition, “Watts: Then and Now,” to mark the 50th anniversary of the Watts Rebellion. The exhibit in the University Library Cultural Art Center opens on Aug. 11–Fifty years to the day of the unrest–and is part of CSUDH's year-long commemoration of the historic events that awakened the nation to social injustices and racial tensions in predominately poor African American communities.
