The University Library at California State University, Dominguez Hills will host one of several public workshops organized by the National Park Service this summer to plan a vision for the Tule Lake Unit of World War II Valor in the Pacific National Monument, which preserves the Tule Lake Segregation Center site where more than 29,000 Japanese Americans were forcibly removed and incarcerated during World War II. Approximately 1,500 women and a few men from throughout much of Southern California –who already are or are interested in becoming small business owners–gathered at the 2013 Connecting Women to Power Business Conference held at California State University, Dominguez Hills on June 28. The California State University, Dominguez Hills family suffered another tragic loss in June with the untimely deaths of digital media arts major René Romero and alumna Stefanie Ramirez (Class of 2011, B.S. sociology), who died in a car accident on Friday, June 28. (Earlier in June, Marcela Franco, a senior majoring in psychology, was among four other victims, including her father, who were shot and killed by a lone gunman in Santa Monica.) Robert Anderson: Sociology Alumnus Finds His Calling as a Teacher
Robert Armando Anderson, 44, thought analytically about the world around him even when he was a child, so much so that while growing up in Compton, his nickname was “Professor Bob.” As if fulfilling a prophecy, the California State University, Dominguez Hills alumnus (Class of '96, B.A., sociology/minor in public administration; '99, M.A., sociology) has enjoyed a 16-year career at Colin P.
