CSUDH Hosts First U.S. Department of Education Hearing on College Affordability
In partnership with the California State University Office of the Chancellor, California State University, Dominguez Hills hosted the first in a series of United States Department of Education (DOE) public hearings on President Barack Obama's College Affordability Initiative on Nov. 6. Carrie Stewart Named New Vice President for University Advancement
Following a nation-wide search, Willie J. Hagan, president of California State University, Dominguez Hills, has appointed Carrie E. Stewart as the university's new vice president for university advancement. Her first day will be Jan. 13, 2014. Stewart has more than 25 years of experience in university advancement, most recently as vice president of institutional advancement at Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles, a position she has held since 2011. California State University President Willie J. Hagan has been selected to participate in a College Affordability Roundtable between U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan and presidents and chancellors of universities and community colleges across the nation. The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) is hosting the private meeting on Oct. 25 during its annual conference taking place in Chicago. University Awarded Multimillion Federal Grant for School Leadership Initiative
California State University, Dominguez Hills has been awarded a multimillion dollar grant from the U.S. Department of Education Office of Innovation and Improvement's School Leadership Program (SLP). More than $13 million of first-year funding was awarded for fiscal year 2013 to 20 educational institutions nationwide to support projects designed to recruit, train, and mentor principals and assistant principals for high-need schools and districts.
