In honor of Black History Month, the Department of Africana Studies and University Archives and Special Collections at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) present “The Font of Black Culture in Los Angeles: The Alfred and Bernice Ligon Aquarian Collection” beginning Feb. 10 Featuring historical items from the famed Aquarian Book Shop in Los Angeles that were recently donated to the university's archives department, the exhibit will run through Sept. 1 in the archives' gallery. Statement from President Hagan on Death of Two Students
Dear Campus Community, It is with great sadness I write to inform you that two of our students, Mr. Joseph Labori and Ms. Vanessa Carrisoza, both in their second year at CSU Dominguez Hills, died Tuesday night in Torrance when their car was struck head-on by another vehicle. The University has been in contact with the families this morning to extend condolences and to offer assistance in their time of need. The families currently are finalizing plans for a joint memorial service and we will update the campus as details become available. Carnegie Fellowship Supports College of Education Professor’s Work in Africa
Irene Osisioma, associate professor of teacher education at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) has been awarded a Carnegie African Diaspora Fellowship. Funded by the Carnegie Corporation of New York and managed by the nonprofit Institute of International Education, the Carnegie African Diaspora Fellowship facilitates engagement between scholars born in Africa who are now based in the United States or Canada and scholars in Africa on mutually beneficial academic activities.
